As a Christian father and grandfather, I understand the value of protecting the lives of the unborn. Our U.S. Constitution guarantees Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness. As your state representative, you will never have to question where I am on this issue!
From the time I was a young boy, I have always enjoyed hunting. In my profession, I have carried and trusted a weapon for my personal protection and the protection of those around me. Because of that, I have always recognized our God given right to keep and bear arms. As a father and grandfather, I have an oath to protect my family. I have a deep understanding that the second amendment is about protecting our country, our homes, and our loved ones.
As a small business owner, I see first-hand the disastrous effects of government over reach into the lives of business owners and employees. Over taxation, Obamacare, and other liberal policies have a damaging and long-lasting impact on our economy. As your representative, I will always vote against income tax increases and all unfunded mandates that hurt our businesses and families. As a state, we should do everything possible to incentivize existing businesses to grow, new businesses to start, and out of state businesses to re-locate to Mississippi. I am a very strong believer in user tax which taxes use or consumption NOT productivity. I believe that we need to eliminate the state income tax.
We need to allow parents and educators at the local level to have control over our children's education. Common Core which the Mississippi Department of Education calls College and Career Readiness Standards has no place in our school systems. This ineffective education regulation handicaps our children’s ability to learn. We desperately need to eliminate all the useless standardized tests that forces teachers to teach to these tests rather than preparing students for life. We need an education system that provides local control and encourages a more effective environment for learning. We need to make sure all our children are educated to a level that makes them productive citizens and allows them to attend college, if they choose, but more importantly prepares them for life, not just college.
We should always have compassion and forgiveness, but we must also be vigilant to insure the safety of our citizens. There is no question that we can do both. We must return to a time that our law enforcement officers are heroes and not degraded for choosing to serve society by giving them the necessary tools to insure their own safety and the safety of those they choose to protect.
"I am committed to serving the people of our district by protecting the unborn, reducing the size of government, lowering taxes, and promoting religious liberty."
